I have had an interest in wind instruments of all kinds for many years, but the haunting sound of the flute has had a special place in my heart.
Meditation is my way to relax and flute music is an ideal instrument to get you in the zone.
I bought a Native American style flute from Dickie Lee, at
Living Wood Flutes and that started me on a journey. It is a very easy instrument to play. I tune mine to the minor pentatonic scale, which is the most common tuning.
I have worked with wood most of my life and crafting the flute made it possible to bring together my two joys of music and woodwork.
Each flute is crafted by hand apart from routing out the hollow chamber. I then spend a long time getting each instrument into concert pitch. I have included some pictures of the making process.
If you like what you hear and see, I have a limited number of my flutes for sale. See below for details.
Who knows, this could be the start of your journey into the beautiful world of the Native American Flute.
